To complement our overall banana sales, our company imports the more exotic bananas such as red bananas and niños or baby bananas. Another long-standing core item are plantains, a staple ethnic tropical fruit that must be cooked and is low in calories and rich in vitamin A. We are one of the largest importer of Ecuadorian plantains on the European market and supply them on a year-round basis. Also, for several years we are offering Ecuadorian mangoes of varieties Tommy Atkins, Kent and Keitt with the highest quality standards to the European market. Since the beginning of 2002, we have added with succes Bonita Sunripe Pineapples to our product list. Bonita Diversified Products Division handles the marketing of all items that are NOT bananas. Why the separation - after all a fruit is a fruit? Bananas is truely Europes most popular fruit shown by the fact that our European sales team sells 50 million Bonita bananas every week. The other products in our Diversified portfolio are much smaller volumes, require different production and handling techniques and are often sold through their own unique distribution system to customers who have no interest in bananas. We see them as two very different businesses, which is why they have two separate management teams who rely on the Companys world-class shipping and logistic skills. Diversified products currently consists of three main product areas: - Ethnic products - Plantains, yucca and ginger - Exotics - Pineapples, mangos, limes,papaya - Bananas-plus - Baby bananas, red bananas (look out for other colours in the future) and bio bananas The product range is being constantly added to as we secure additional high quality suppliers for the Bonita brand.
