Ecuador has a population of 13 million people. The population
is ethnically mixed: 55% Mestizo (mixed indigenous -
Caucasian), 25% Indigenous, 10% Caucasian, 9% African,
and 1% of other races. The average Ecuadorian has a
deserved reputation for hard work and a desire to improve
through education. An estimated $1.6 billion is remitted
annually from Ecuadorian citizens working abroad. This
currency inflow is the largest single currency earner
for the country.
